2020 has been a year of unprecedented challenges. After the year we’ve all experienced, the word “unprecedented” should be retired from the dictionary! Our virtual showcase will be a way to rise up out of the challenges of this year and celebrate that our Kaleidoscope community is still flying. “Transcend” will be about coming together as a studio community, finding the positive, and lifting each other up, even in the most difficult of times. Join us for a celebration of movement, dance, community, perseverance, and positivity.
This showcase will feature pre-recorded performances streamed live online with a live MC introducing each performance. Pre-recording performances in our studio over a period of several days will give the performers the opportunity to safely film while not wearing their masks. During filming there will be minimal people present in the studio; just the performer and one to two staff doing the filming. The performers will remove their masks only when actively recording and replace them immediately after and between takes. Staff who are doing the filming will maintain extra distance at all times and be provided with medical grade masks during the filming. The studio will be completely sanitized and aired out between each filming session. We are practicing an abundance of caution and care in order to keep our community safe.
Tickets for this event will be by donation. We understand these are difficult financial times for many. The minimum suggested donation is $10 per individual that will be viewing (only one ticket is needed per household that will be viewing together) however you can choose to donate any amount. Proceeds from ticket sales will help the studio cover overhead expenses as we continue to operate with greatly reduced capacity and increased costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and increased public health measures. We will also be donating 10% of all proceeds from the show to SASC of Waterloo Region.
A note regarding the COVID-19 status of the region. While we are in "Red" status, we will still be able to film the performances for the show. However, if in the coming weeks the region is moved to Lockdown, the performers will not be able to rehearse or film and we will unfortunately have to postpone the show. Tickets purchased for the show are not refundable however if the show does have to be postponed, tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled date. Please keep this in mind when purchasing your ticket.
