Class Descriptions
Cirque Kids (Ages 7 - 10)
Does your child dream of running away to join the circus? This is the class for them! Cirque Kids is an interactive play based class for children ages 7-10 that uses circus themed games and activities to get kids moving and learning body and spatial awareness skills. The class time will be divided between ground based skills (basic acrobatics, utilizing props such as spinning plates, juggling balls and scarves, flower sticks, hula hoops, etc.) and time on the aerial apparatus (hammock, trapeze, silks, and hoop).
Cirque Kids - Mixed Level class for new and experienced students.
Cirque Kids 1 - No experience required. This class is for students taking Cirque Kids for the first time and who are practicing at the Intro-Beginner level.
Cirque Kids 2 - This class if for for those students who have attended at least one full term of Cirque Kids 1 and who have demonstrated adequate body awareness, learning behaviours, and safe execution of Beginner aerial skills and have been cleared by an instructor to move up to higher level skills.
Youth Aerials (Ages 11-14)
Youth Aerials 1: Is your preteen or teen enchanted by the beautiful aerial acts they’ve seen performed in shows like Cirque du Soleil, or in popular movies or pop acts like The Greatest Showman and P!nk? Now they can try aerial arts for themselves. Aerials are a great way for youth to build strength, coordination, and confidence. This class focuses on introducing the foundations of both fabric and bar apparatuses using hammocks (slings), dance trapeze, aerial hoops and silks. No experience required; brand new aerial students should register for this class.
Youth Aerials 2: This class is a continuation of the Youth Aerials program, geared towards students who have already completed at least one term of Youth Aerials 1 and have progressed to the Beginner level or higher of our curriculum. Progression to Youth Aerials 2 is by instructor invitation. Speak to your youth’s instructor if you/they think they’re ready to move up.
Mixed Level Youth Aerials: This class combines Youth Aerials 1 & 2. Students will receive individualized attention from the instructors and work at their current level. New and experienced students welcome in this class.
Family Circus (kids ages 6-14 and adults attend together)
In this special, intergenerational class, we invite families to have fun and explore movement while learning circus arts together. Kids and Youth ages 6-14 can join this class with a parent, grandparent, caregiver, or other responsible adult to learn in a fun, collaborative, environment. Up to two kids or youth can join with each adult (if you'd like to request an exception to this ratio, please reach out to the studio before registering).
This class will feature learning basic skills on aerial apparatuses (hammock, hoop, trapeze, silks) and will also feature play based warm-up and ground based flow arts. There will even be some partner skills that families can work on together. Skills taught will be tailored to the age, ability, and experience of the participants. No experience required.
