Perform in the Brass Butterflies Spring Circus Showcase

Showcases by Brass Butterflies are a celebration of our students' accomplishments and our studio community. As a student, there are a couple of different ways that you can perform in a showcase. You can participate in an instructed troupe (a series of classes where you learn group choreography, instructed by a Brass Butterflies instructor), or you can apply to perform a DIY (Do It Yourself / Self-choreographed) act.

Our next Aerial and Circus showcase will be our Spring Circus Showcase and will be presented at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts (CCPA) in downtown Kitchener, on April 11-12, 2026 (2 shows). This will be a family friendly aerial and circus variety showcase featuring our students, instructors, Performance Company, and maybe even some special guests.

In April 2025, as part of the Spring Showcase, Brass Butterflies presented their first ever themed, multi-act circus production, The Clockmaker and the Star, choreographed and directed by Emily Wright. View video of the production on our YouTube channel, here: The Clockmaker and the Star on YouTube.

Our 2026 themed production will be called AQUARION and will be presented in the second half of the Spring Circus Showcase. AQUARION is and aquatic themed show featuring enchanting sea creatures. The first half of the showcase will be dedicated to individual acts created by our students and instructors.

12 Week Mixed Level Aerial Performance Troupes (Spring 2026)

Cost: $359.99 + HST for 12 weeks of 1 hour classes + rehearsals and performances

In this special 12 week choreography series, you will come together as a group to create an ensemble aerial act to be performed at the Brass Butterflies Spring Circus Showcase to be held at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Kitchener, April 11 & 12, 2026 (2 shows).  As part of this torupe, you will be performing in a group aerial act during the themed "show within the show", AQUARION, which will be in the second half of the showcase. You will also be appearing in the opening and closing acts and bows. Though we are posting as separate troupes for different apparatuses, all troupes will be meeting in the same time slot each week and may be performing in the same numbers together. We are posting separately to make it easier for you to express your apparatus preference.

This is a fantastic opportunity for aerial students who are new or newer to performing to participate in a show in a real theatrical venue with a group of supportive peers.  Emily, the troupe instructor and Director of the show, will guide and support you through the process of learning a themed choreography that ties into the overall narrative of AQUARION.  Choreography will be customized to each troupe member's skill level.

Class Dates: Thursdays 6:10pm - 7:10pm, January 8 - March 26, 2026

Additional Time Commitment:  Please note that while the classes for this troupe will run for one hour each week on Thursdays from January through March, there will also be additional rehearsals on Sunday afternoons in March where the troupe will rehearse alongside the principal cast of AQUARION  to learn the choreography for the acts featuring the whole cast (the opening and the finale). Other than the main troupe number which will be an aerial act, the choreography in the other numbers will be ground based. There will also be mandatory Tech and Dress rehearsals on Tuesday, April 7 and Friday, April 10. The two shows will be in the evening on Saturday, April 11 and a Matinée (early afternoon) on Sunday, April 12. If you have conflicts with any of these times, please inquire with the studio before registering to see if we can accommodate.

Aerial Act Creation with Allison (8 week series)

Cost: $259.99+HST or register using your membership curriculum credits

Once you’ve established the foundations of aerial practice you can begin to explore your apparatus creatively. This class is dedicated to supporting students through the creative process from idea to performance. Students will choreograph their very own act over the length of the session, supported by an experienced instructor. Opportunities will be made available for Act Creation students to perform at studio showcases, should they wish to. These classes run as 8-Week sessions and cost the same as a curriculum class (can be paid for with the Curriculum Class purchase options or membership curriculum credits). These sessions are supplemental to the curriculum so while students will be supported in exploring creative variations of skills they’ve already learned, no new skills will be taught in these classes. Every student will work at their own level.  Students are also permitted to explore doubles/partner work with other students in this class, and to create duo and small group acts if they wish.
