Performing in a Showcase

Showcases by Brass Butterflies are a celebration of our students' accomplishments and our studio community. As a student, there are a few different ways that you can perform in our upcoming 10th Annual Halloween Party and Showcase. You can participate in an instructed troupe (a series of classes where you learn group choreography, lead by a Brass Butterflies instructor), you can take an Act Creation class to develop your own act with the support of a Brass Butterflies instructor, or you can apply to perform a DIY (Do It Yourself / Self-choreographed) act.

Our 10th Annual Halloween Party and Showcase will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the studio. This party style showcase will feature pole, burlesque, aerials, chair dance, and more! Because we tend to get a little spooky (and a little sexy) at Halloween, this party is for grown-ups only (18+).

Halloween 2025 Performance Troupes

PERFORMANCE COMMITMENT:  Please note that by registering for any performance troupe you are committing to attending all sessions and practices, learning the choreography and performing in the showcase. It is very important for the experience of everyone in the troupe that you commit to attending all sessions and performing. Your troupe mates are counting on you!  Please take this into consideration when registering for a troupe.

Regular price August 1 onward: $259.99 + HST or use your membership credits + costume cost. Save 10% if registering for a performance class in addition to a regular weekly curriculum class.

All Levels Pole Performance Troupe with Andrea

Join Andrea for a special choreography series that will culminate in a group performance at the Brass Butterflies Halloween Party and Showcase to be held in the Brass Butterflies studio on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

All levels of pole students, age 18+, who have completed at least one session of Intro to Pole at Brass Butterflies (or equivalent) are welcome to join.  Please note the age restriction is due to this potentially being a licensed event, with adult themes.

Class Dates: Mondays 8:30 - 9:30pm, September 8 - October 20, 2024

SCHEDULING NOTE: There are 7 scheduled weekly one-hour group lesson times prior to the showcase, due to the studio being closed on Labour Day. An 8th class will be scheduled at some time during the term upon mutual agreement between the instructors and the participants.  Additional rehearsals may be scheduled at mutually agreed upon times at the instructor's discretion prior to the show.  A dress rehearsal may also be held in the studio during the week before the show.  All scheduled group lessons and additional rehearsals, as well as participation in the show, are included in the term fee.

Classic Burlesque Performance Troupe with Sassy Ray

In this 8 week session, you will learn classic burlesque style group choreography that you will perform at our Brass Butterflies Halloween Party and Showcase, in the Brass Butterflies studio on Saturday, October 25, 2025.  Sassy will guide you through learning the steps and polishing the group routine in a supportive group atmosphere.  

Class Dates: Tuesdays 7:20 - 8:20pm, September 2 - October 21, 2025

SCHEDULING NOTE: There are 8 scheduled weekly one-hour group lesson times prior to the show.  Additional rehearsals may be scheduled at mutually agreed upon times at the instructor's discretion.  A dress rehearsal will be held in the studio during the week before the show.  All group lessons and additional rehearsals as well as participation in the show are included in the session fee.

Chair Dancing Performance Troupe with Sarah

Join Sarah for this 8 week series (see scheduling note) to learn a sassy chair dancing routine. Incorporating floorwork, chair tricks, and lots of hair whips, you will meet weekly for 1 hour to learn a group chair dancing routine that you will perform at our Brass Butterflies Halloween Party and Showcase in studio on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Class Dates: Wednesdays 8:30 - 9:30pm, September 3 - October 22, 2025

SCHEDULING NOTE: There are 8 scheduled weekly one-hour group lesson times prior to the show.  Additional rehearsals may be scheduled at mutually agreed upon times at the instructor's discretion.  A dress rehearsal may be held in the studio during the week before the show.  All group lessons and additional rehearsals as well as participation in the show are included in the session fee.

Mixed Level Aerial Performance Troupe with Emily & Justine

In this special 8 week aerial choreography series, you will come together as a group to create a group aerial routine to be performed at the annual Brass Butterflie Halloween Party and Showcase which will take place in the studio on Saturday, October 25, 2025. This will be a mixed level and mixed apparatus performance.  The choreography and mix of apparatuses will depend on who joins the troupe, and your part in the act will be appropriate to your experience and apparatus preferences.  

All adult aerial students who have completed at least one term of Beginner Level Aerials on any apparatus at Brass Butterflies (or equivalent) are welcome to join. Students for this troupe must be 18+ due to some acts in the Halloween show being of an adult nature and the event potentially being licensed.

Class Dates: Sundays 12:20 - 1:20pm, September 7 - October 19, 2025 (see scheduling note)

SCHEDULING NOTE: There are 6 scheduled weekly one-hour group lesson times prior to the showcase, due to the studio being closed on Thanksgiving Sunday (Oct 12) and the showcase being on the last Saturday of the term. Two additional hours of class will be scheduled at some time during the term upon mutual agreement between the instructors and the participants.  Additional rehearsals may be scheduled at mutually agreed upon times at the instructor's discretion prior to the show.  A dress rehearsal may also be held in the studio during the week before the show.  All scheduled group lessons and additional rehearsals, as well as participation in the show, are included in the term fee.

All Levels Heels Dancing Halloween Performance Troupe with Shayna

Show off your sass and bring out your sexy. Over 8 weeks learn a group routine in this iconic dance style, made popular by artists such as Beyoncé and Yanis Marshall.  This is a performance focused class and will culminate in a group performance at our annual Halloween Party and Showcase, in studio on October 25, 2025.  This class is suitable for all levels, including those who are brand new to Heels Dancing.  Shayna will work with each troupe member at their level and will adapt choreography for individuals whether they are beginners or more experienced dancers so everyone has their moment to shine. 

Class Dates: Thursdays 7:20 - 8:20pm, September 4 - October 23, 2025 (see scheduling note)

Act Creation Classes

Aerial Act Creation with Emily:

Once you’ve established the foundations of your aerial practice you can begin to explore your apparatus creatively. This class is dedicated to supporting students through the creative process from idea to performance. Students will choreograph their very own act over the length of the session, supported by an experienced instructor. Opportunities will be made available for Act Creation students to perform at studio showcases, should they wish to. These classes run as 8-Week sessions and cost the same as a curriculum class (can be paid for with the Curriculum Class purchase options or membership curriculum credits). These sessions are supplemental to the curriculum so while students will be supported in exploring creative variations of skills they’ve already learned, no new skills will be taught in these classes. Every student will work at their own level.  Students are also permitted to explore doubles/partner work with other students in the class, and to create duo and small group acts if they wish.

Burlesque Act Creation with Sassy Ray:

Join international burlesque sensation, Sassy Ray in a group session where you will learn to craft your very own Burlesque solo (or small group) act.  Sassy will mentor you through music selection, costuming, choreography creation and give you feedback to help you prepare your very own burlesque act, which you have the option of performing in an upcoming studio showcae. Each one hour class will consist of warm-up and dance drills and instruction on various act creation topics, followed by time to work on your own act, with Sassy and the other students' support.  

The next available performance opportunity is at our annual Halloween Party and Showcase which will be held in studio on Saturday, October 25, 2025 (minimum age 18).

“DIY” Self-choreographed Performances

Apply to perform your own self-choreographed act in our Halloween Showcase! We hope to be able to accept every performer who applies however, in order to keep the event to a reasonable length, performance slots will be limited and we must reserve the right to decline applications if necessary.  Instructed troupes, Act Creation students, instructors, Performance Company members, and invited special guest performers will take priority with guaranteed performance spots, and "DIY" performers will fill the remaining spots.  Priority for DIY spots will be given to current or recent students of Brass Butterflies, but previous students and guest performers from other studios are welcome to apply.  You can apply to do a solo, duet, or small group performance.
